COMPRESSOR CLEANER®

Cleaner for Varnished Air Compressors

Compressor Cleaner is a specially formulated synthetic cleaner capable of dissolving varnish and make sludge soluble from compressors while they are operating.

Compressor Cleaner contains oxidation and rust inhibitors, and may be used as a short term compressor lubricant (up to 400 hours).  It is fully compatible with mineral oils and most synthetics.  It’s high flash point and non-toxic nature ensures safety in its application.

 APPLICATIONS

Compressor Cleaner may be used for removal of varnish, dirt and oxidized fluid from compressors and compressor lubricating systems.

Compressor Cleaner may be used as a flushing fluid when converting from other lubricants to Compressor Fluids.  This is particularly recommended when the compressor is varnished or dirty.

CLEANING AND FLUSHING PROCEDURES

Contamination with other products reduces the service life of premium lubricants such as Super Compressor Fluids and our U.S.D.A. approved H-1 Purity FG Compressor Lubricant.  In order to obtain the full benefit of an extended life fluid, varnish or sludge from the previously used lubricant has to be removed.  Varnish is usually seen when the separator unit is opened and will appear as a resinous build up.  Varnish will decrease the cooling efficiency of the oil, and can lead to premature equipment failure.

  1. For slightly varnished machines that are using mineral oils, polyalphaolefins (PAO), or diester lubricants, or for all conversions for polyglycol synthetics, the following procedures should be used:
  2. Drain the used lubricant while hot – especially for filters and oil coolers.
  3. Change the Oil Filter.
  4. Fill the Compressor Cleaner and run for a minimum of 40 hours.  Change oil filter and run for a minimum of 40 hours but no more than 400 hours.
  5. Drain the cleaner and inspect the compressor.  If still dirty, repeat steps 2 and 3.
  6. Change oil and air filter.  Replace separator if necessary.
  7. Fill compressor half full with the selected Compressor Fluid (Super Compressor Fluid or Purity FG Compressor Lubricant) and run for 2 hours.
  8. Drain and repeat step 6
  9. Drain and refill a full charge of the selected Compressor Fluid (Super Compressor Fluid or Purity FG Compressor Lubricant).

For medium to heavy varnish, steps 2 and 3 will have to be repeated at least twice using the Compressor Cleaner for a minimum or 200 hours each time, but no more than 400 hours.  For extremely varnished compressors, consult an approved service company.

Compressor Cleaner is available in 20 liter pails and 205 liter drums.
